Voluminous Half-Up Half-Down Bouffant

Combine the best of both worlds with a voluminous half-up, half-down hairstyle that nods to the iconic sixties mod aesthetic while remaining thoroughly modern. This style offers the elegance of an updo with the romantic feel of wearing your hair down. By adding a subtle bouffant at the crown, you create height and structure, which beautifully elongates the face. This look is incredibly flattering on all face shapes and pairs exceptionally well with classic A-line dresses, high-neck designs, and vintage-inspired gowns.
To build the necessary volume at the crown, section off the top portion of your hair and gently backcomb or tease the roots using a fine-tooth comb and a volumizing powder. Gently smooth the top layer of hair over the teased section to hide the volume-building work underneath, and pin it securely at the back of your head with bobby pins. The remaining lower half of your hair can be styled into soft, bouncy curls or sleek, straight strands. You can accessorize the pinning point with a velvet bow, a jeweled barrette, or a pearl clip to add an extra touch of sophistication.
