3. The Skeleton Excavation and Archeological Dig

3

Ditch the traditional graveyard scene for a highly creative, interactive-looking archaeological excavation site. Use plastic barrier stakes and bright yellow “Caution: Haunted Dig Site” tape to section off a large portion of your front lawn. Lay down patches of dark topsoil or brown mulch to look like freshly turned earth. Partially bury various plastic skeletons in the dirt, making it appear as though a team of scientists has just uncovered an ancient, cursed burial ground. Scatter vintage-looking lanterns, wooden crates, shovels, magnifying glasses, and clipboards with “scientific notes” around the site. For an extra touch of humor and narrative, pose a few fully assembled skeletons holding digging tools, as if the undead have taken over the excavation of their own ancestors.
