17. Liquid Quick-Sand Shake Resin Keychains

What This Idea Means

Liquid shaker keychains feature hollow resin frames filled with floating glitters, tiny charms, and baby oil liquid. When shaken, the contents slide and drift around like a miniature snowglobe, creating an interactive, mesmerizing charm.

Materials Needed

  • Hollow silicone shaker molds (popsicle, gaming console, star, heart shapes)
  • UV Resin and UV curing light
  • Translucent shaker film sheets or thin clear plastic film
  • Baby oil or mineral oil with a plastic syringe dispenser
  • Mixed glitters, mini clay sprinkles, and metallic confetti charms
  • Strong clear UV glue or resin
  • Keyring hardware with swivel snap

How to Make It

  1. Fill your hollow silicone shaker mold with UV resin (tinted or clear) and cure under the UV lamp for 3 minutes to form the main hollow body piece.
  2. Unmold the hollow resin piece. Fill the inside cavity with dry glitters, miniature resin charms, and plastic confetti.
  3. Cut a piece of clear shaker film sheet to match the exact size of the hollow top rim.
  4. Apply a thin line of UV resin along the top rim of the cavity, place the cut plastic film precisely over it, and cure instantly under the UV lamp to seal the dry chamber.
  5. Using a hand drill, carefully drill a tiny hole into the top edge of the sealed chamber.
  6. Fill a plastic syringe with mineral oil/baby oil and inject it through the drilled hole until the chamber is filled with liquid.
  7. Seal the tiny drilled hole with a drop of thick UV resin and cure under the lamp completely to prevent any oil leakage. Domed the top with resin for a shiny finish, then add keychain hardware.

Tips and Variations

  • Tip: Leave a small air bubble inside the liquid chamber so the moving liquid creates a smooth wave motion when shaken.
  • Variation: Add a drop of translucent alcohol ink into the oil inside for a colorful liquid background effect.
