8. The Sunken Graveyard of the Living Room

8

Bring the desolate chill of an abandoned, foggy cemetery indoors by transforming your living room floor into a muddy, overgrown churchyard. Lay down thick, black plastic sheeting protected by layers of realistic faux grass turf, dried autumn leaves, and damp peat moss. Erect weathered, crumbling tombstones crafted from carved, painted high-density foam, complete with moss growing in the engraved epitaphs. Use a low-lying fog machine fueled by dry ice to keep a thick blanket of mist hovering exactly ankle-high across the room. To complete the illusion, bury a few low-profile, upward-facing green and purple LED floodlights in the moss, casting an eerie, supernatural glow onto the ceiling and walls, making guests feel as though they are walking amongst the dead.
