8. The Fortified Border Guardhouse

What This Idea Means

A sturdy home designed for guards or scouts stationed at the edge of the village perimeter. It balances residential comfort with military defense features like battlements and high visibility.

How to Make It

Build a square $7 \times 7$ base using deepslate cobble and stone bricks up to 6 blocks tall. On top of this stone bunker, build a compact timber living quarters with a pitched slate roof. Extend one corner of the building upward into a 3-story watchtower topped with a conical roof, arrow slits (iron bars/stairs), and a signal horn (goat horn in item frame).

Tips and Variations

  • Use trapdoors and stairs to craft narrow arrow slits along the main stone walls instead of standard glass.
  • Add a small armory room with armor stands, weapon racks, and chests inside the lower stone base.
  • Variation: Connect the guardhouse directly to a perimeter stone wall or wooden palisade.

Materials Needed

Cobbled deepslate, stone bricks, oak logs, spruce planks, armor stands, shields, iron bars, and lanterns.
