Scarecrows are a classic symbol of the autumn harvest, and creating paper bag puppets is a fantastic way to encourage dramatic play and storytelling. Using a standard brown paper lunch bag as the base, the folded bottom flap serves as the scarecrow’s head. Children can glue on raffia or yellow yarn under the flap to look like straw hair. Cut out a hat from orange or brown construction paper and glue it to the top. Use scraps of plaid fabric or patterned paper to create a shirt and overalls for the body of the bag.
