3. Autumn Leaf Lanterns
As the November days grow shorter and dusk arrives earlier, these autumn leaf lanterns bring a warm, cozy glow to any room. This project is an excellent way to preserve the vibrant colors of fallen leaves collected during the month. It teaches children about the translucency of materials and how light interacts with different colors and textures.
To create these enchanting lanterns, clean and dry a variety of colorful autumn leaves. Using clean, empty glass jars, have children brush a thin layer of decoupage medium or watered-down school glue onto the glass. Gently press the leaves onto the wet glue, smoothing out any air bubbles. Apply another layer of glue over the top of the leaves to seal them. Once completely dry, place a battery-operated LED tea light inside the jar. The warm light filtering through the colorful leaves creates a beautiful stained-glass effect that celebrates the natural beauty of the season.
