17. Thanksgiving Turkey Windsocks
Add movement and color to your outdoor spaces with Thanksgiving turkey windsocks. This craft explores the concept of wind and motion while allowing children to work with lightweight materials like crepe paper streamers, which dance beautifully in the autumn breeze.
Paint a clean, recycled tin can or a cardboard tube brown. Once dry, glue googly eyes, a paper beak, and a red wattle to the front to create the turkey’s face. Glue colorful cardstock feathers to the back of the tube. For the windsock tail, cut long strips of red, orange, and yellow crepe paper or satin ribbon and glue them along the inside bottom rim of the tube. Attach a loop of twine to the top, and hang the windsock from a porch or tree branch to watch the colorful streamers dance in the wind.
