14. Pinecone Owls
As winter approaches, forest animals prepare for the colder weather. This adorable pinecone owl craft introduces children to woodland wildlife while encouraging the creative reuse of natural materials. The varied textures of pinecones, felt, and feathers provide an excellent sensory experience.
Select wide, rounded pinecones to serve as the owl’s body. Cut out large circular eyes, a small beak, and wing shapes from colorful felt. Glue the felt eyes and beak to the top of the pinecone, using large googly eyes in the center of the felt circles to give the owl an inquisitive expression. Glue the felt wings to the sides, or use real fluffy feathers for a softer, more realistic look. These charming woodland creatures can be nestled in indoor potted plants or displayed on bookshelves as cozy autumn decorations.
